Fear and loathing in Las Vegas

A savage journey to the heart of the American Dream

Slabut.

Dar tot am gasit cateva citate dragute 😀

Hallucinations are bad enough. But after a while you learn to cope with things like seeing your dead grandmother crawling up your leg with a knife in her teeth. Most acid fanciers can handle this sort of thing. But nobody can handle that other trip – the possibility that any freak with $1.98 can walk into the Circus-Circus and suddenly appear in the sky over downtown Las Vegas twelve times the size of God, howling anything that comes into his head. No, this is not a good town for psychedelic drugs. Reality itself is too twisted.

Strange memories on this nervous night in Las Vegas. Five years later? Six? It seems like a lifetime, or at least a Main Era – the kind of peak that never comes again. San Francisco in the middle sixties was a very special time and place to be a part of. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run. . . but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were here and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant . . .

I looked pretty bad: wearing old Levis and white Chuck Taylor All – Star basketball sneakers. . . and my ten-peso Acapulco shirt had long since come apart at the shoulder seams from all that road – wind. My beard was about three days old, bordering on standard wino trim, and my eyes were totally hidden by Sandy Bull?s Saigon – mirror shades.

Att’y: Let me explain it to you, let me run it down just briefly if I can. We’re looking for the American Dream, and we were told it was somewhere in this area. . . Well, we’re here looking for it, ’cause they sent us out here all the way from San Francisco to look for it. That’s why they gave us this white Cadillac, they figure that we could catch up with it in that. . .

  1. O vreau si eu!
Farmecul sta in faptul ca e amuzanta, si ca oameni ca aia chiar exista(am cunoscut cativa o.O). Cu faptul asta in cap trebuie citita cartea/vazut filmul. Cam ca la Trainspotting.

  3. Junky mi s-a părut cam puerilă în sensul rău al cuvântului, but on the other hand, asta pare să fi îmbinat comicul cu “realitatea” ceva mai bine 🙂

  5. the man is a fukin carachter. hunter s thompson si johnny depp, nu degeaba au fost buni prieteni.

totusi hunter exista pina prin 2005 sau asa, cind statea intr-o zi cu nepotii in sufragerie. a zis ca bea neste apa si s-a impuscat in cap.

apoi a venit johnny, si pentru ca erau preteni i-a platit inmormintarea: un soi de mock state honour, salve de tun, artificii. desigur, el era in tun.

    in concluzie, cartea rulez

  6. @ Sabina: If you say so… 😀

  9. Trebuie sa imi dai si mie cartea asta *puppy eyes* Trupa mea preferata are o piesa numita dupa un citat din carte si dedicata lui Hunter S. Thompson!! So, please!!! 😀

  10. one of the best movies wordlwide
i know..there are differences to understad the drug trips…but wtf…it was flower powa time..and ^^ everything was ok…
however that movie was made by terry gillian..a well knowed member of monthy pythons flying circus and he did other great movies like 12 monkeys.
this movie has more symbolysm then every other “junkie”movie..maybe except “requiem for a dream” which show the dramatic end of the dream of
    tripping
    greetings Xaar

  11. Hello. As vrea-o si eu, dar mi-ar placea s-o cumpar.
